Elections: Kwara govt announces 50% transport subsidy for students returning home

The Kwara State Government has announced a 50 percent transport support to Kwara students schooling in various tertiary institutions across the country, to enable them travel home and partake in the 2023 general elections.

The move comes after the National University Commission directed tertiary institutions in the country to suspend academic activities for a period of three weeks, to enable students and staff members whose voting areas are outside their school / work place, partake in the electioneering process.

Announcing the transport relief, the Kwara state commissioner for tertiary education, Alabi Afees Abolore, in a statement issued by his press secretary, Mansurat Amuda-kannike, explained that the support will be monetized and transferred to the beneficiaries after verifications.
