A discontented former student of the Delta State University, Abraka, Mr. Thaddeus Ifeanyi, has aired his grievances over the low grades he was awarded by the institution following the completion of his degree programme.
The 31-year-old Sociology graduate with matriculation number FSS/10/11/183959 said he was robbed of his marks after it was revealed that he scored less than 3.00 in his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA), and has dragged the institution before the National Human Rights Commission.

According to Ifeanyi, he graduated in the 2013/2014 academic session and strongly believe that he had a Second Class Upper degree, but was surprised when his result showed a Second Class Lower. He claimed that when he approached the HOD of Sociology to see his marked 400-level scripts, he was told that the immediate past vice-chancellor took the scripts away.
He added that a protest letter was also sent to the institution's vice-chancellor, who in turn ordered for the remarking of his script, but the university never informed him of the outcome.
Ifeanyi maintained that the irregularities may have been due to an error the school may have done in the process of result computation, adding that all efforts to correct the result have been futile, hence his reason for seeking redress.

Reacting to the report, the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, said he was not aware of the matter, and the issue of a student’s results is an internal matter of the university and would be addressed internally once his office receives a petition.
