Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University To Establish World Class Diagnostic Laboratory

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai is set to establish a world Class diagnostic laboratory that would stand the test of time.

This was disclosed by the Vice Chancellor,  Professor Abu Kasim Adamu during an interactive session with a medical consumable laboratory company, WINTEC Nigeria Limited and the University Management.

The Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to the company for donating some laboratory equipment to the University last year, which has shown that the company was willing and ready to a partner the Institution.

He noted that Covid-19 pandemic has affected the economy of the world and universities are worst hit, but then the diagnostic center needed  to be in place as soon as possible.

Professor Adamu also charged WINTECK to provide the University with equipment that will stand the test of time and also those that are up to date and can be manageable by the University to provide essential services to the surrounding communities as part of it core mandate of teaching learning, research and community development.

The Head of the company Engr Lanre Akinseye assured the University Management that his company is ready, willing and has the capacity for the partnership to ensure that the diagnostic center comes into being.

Engr. Akinseye noted that the equipment the company would supply are good brands with a one year warranty, adding that the company has an arrangement with the  manufacturers on staff training. 

He said the company would provide the training at no cost in addition to free laboratory consumable.

The representative of the company also disclosed that the company understood the economic situation of most institutions due to the Covid-19, hence a packaged down payment of thirty percent of which the Institution would later do the full payment.

In their separate remarks, the Deputy Vice- Chancellor Administration, Professor Hassan Ibrahim and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Professor Mohammed Aliyu Paiko urged WINTECK to provide equipment that will give accurate test results which can be comparable to other diagnostic centers in Abuja and Ibadan, and that the equipment should also be durable to stand the test of time. 

In a vote of thanks, the Registrar, Alhaji Musa Ango Abdullahi congratulated WINTECK for extending a hand of partnership to the University, stressing that he knew it to be one of reputable and reliable company in Nigeria in terms of supplying technical equipment.

He enjoined them to sustain the tempo and do the same for Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.
