Kwara Govt Warns Schools Adminstrators Againsnt Imposing Hijabs or Berets on Students

Kwara state government has warned school principals against the imposition of the wearing of the hijab or berets on any student in the state.

The chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Abubakar gave the warning in a statement released on Sunday, January 23 after a stakeholder meeting held on Friday, January 21.

Abubakar explained that the state government was determined to promote religious tolerance among teachers and students and enhance peaceful coexistence, and implored school principals to shun religious sentiments and respect the rights of individuals.

The warning comes after the hijab crisis that erupted at Oyun Baptist Grammar School, Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, where female Muslim students were instructed not to use their hijabs within the school premises.
