UNN To Install 1000 CCTV Cameras To Curb Insecurity And Exam Malpractices

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Bionomics Nigeria Ltd, an indigenous technology company, to install 1000 (CCTV) cameras in the Institution.

This was made known by Prof Charles Igwe the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity during the MOU signing ceremony on Friday in Nsukka.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the CCTV cameras that would be mounted on the entrance and exit gates, examination halls and other strategic locations are to ensure adequate security.

Prof Charles also said that the CCTV cameras would be mounted on the entrance and exit gates, examination halls, and other strategic locations to ensure adequate security. 

He added that the cameras would be installed in all campuses of the university saying it was to help the university security department monitor happenings in the school and also to detect and expose any criminal activity in and around the university campuses.

“The signing of this MOU marks a new chapter in the security architecture of the University of Nigeria. When this project is completed, every happening and illegal activity will be monitored and exposed. The CCTV will go a long way to help the university security to ensure adequate security 24 hours,” the Vice Chancellor said.
