Tona Music Inc: The Entertainment Industry Prepares To Welcome A New Wave, Adetona Israel

From listening to legends in the Nigerian music industry, to nursing a dream and now to bringing that dream forward, Tona is coming out to the world as an artiste and I'm sure the world is not ready for his shine 'cause it's about to get lit!

Kindly tell us about yourself?

I’m Adetona Israel Ayoade, a 20 year old singer and songwriter from Lagos, Nigeria.
I am currently a student of Mass Communication, University of Lagos.

What role did music play in your life growing up?

Growing up, i listened to a lot of Nigerian and American music. From pop star Micheal Jackson to R&B sensation West Life, to Rap artists like Eminem, 50 cent, Tupac, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Jay Z.

There was also a lot of Nigerian and African music in my house hold, I can’t possibly name them all but I grew up to music by Olamide, Edris AbdulKareem, Sound Sultan, Psquare, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy.

Right now, the list of good artists I listen to have grown and become more diverse.

How did you start making music professionally?

I started songwriting as a hobby when i was 10 and I only started recording music professionally in 2019, my first year in University. I initially wanted to be a rapper but I ended up choosing to make Afro beats and Afro fusion music instead.

What made you decide to pursue a career in music?

It has always been a personal goal of mine to make the kind of music that would appeal to audiences around the world, breaking down ethnic, racial, language and social barriers.
I want to make and distribute the kind of music that can influence the world.

This goal has driven me to bring this amazing team of young, undergraduate professionals, like myself, under the Tona Brand name to serve as my management team and to provide me with label services as an unsigned, independent artist and to help me break into the Nigerian industry; and in due time, the international market as well.

We are aware that you'd be releasing your official debut single (GARAWA) soon. What was the inspiration behind the song and when did the idea occur to you?

I actually wrote the lyrics for Garawa during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was inspired by the bad and weird stuff going on around me the world and just wanting to drown my sorrows in spirits or water, depending on what floats my boat at the time.

The Tona Brand, What is it all about?

The Tona Brand is a new Nigerian based Music/Entertainment outfit, with the aim of providing label services to independent artists, such as; branding, promotion, distribution, sync, sales, public relations, rights management and analytics.

The vision for the brand is bigger than me and you, but it'll take all of us to bring it to life.

Our sole purpose is to create and distribute the sort of relatable African music that would appeal to listeners in Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the globe.

What should we expect from the Tona brand in the music scene in years to come?

In a few years, I hope the team and I would have grown the brand to a point where we become a force to be reckoned with in the Global music market, holding an undeniable influence over the music industry, with our music in almost every household in the world. I also hope we can grow and expand our reach enough to include other talented African acts under our brand.

What message will your new song preach to your fans and the world at large?

It’s just a feel good song that tells people to mind their business and live their lives problem free.

The message is to tell that it's a good time to be happy and enjoy because who knows where the world will take us.

Thank you Tona, It's been a splendid moment with you and we also look forward to the release of your new single

Thank you for having me and I do hope for support when GARAWA comes out.
Let's stream it up.
