NECO Exams Now Compulsory For All Ebonyi Secondary Schools — Spokesperson

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has disclosed that all of its examinations are henceforth compulsory for all Secondary Schools in Ebonyi State.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja by Mr. Azeez Sani. the Head, Information and Public Relations Division of NECO.

As contained in the statement, the Governor of Ebony state, Dave Umahi approved the request as made by the Registrar of the examination body, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi during a courtesy visit to the governor on Thursday in the state capital.

The examinations which will now be compulsory are the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The governor commended NECO for its role in the educational development of the country and assured the exam body the Ebonyi State Government will always support NECO to enable her to deliver on its mandate.

Prof. Wushishi had also commended the state government for its positive disposition to the Council as he also commended the state for registering the highest number of candidates in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) in the country.

Wushishi stated that NECO was the only national indigenous examination body in the country and hence deserves the support of all stakeholders.
