“I Struggled With Finishing School” — Fireboy DML

Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Fireboy DML has revealed that he struggled with finishing school.

In an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, Fireboy disclosed that he studied at Obafemi Awolowo University, and was a great student divided between his academics and music so it caused a sharp decline in his studies.

According to the top Nigerian artiste, he had an extra year due to a lack of adequate planning and time management, which caused him to fall behind in his academics.

In his words:  “Finishing school was a struggle. It was a tough time for me. I had an extra year but I finished. To be honest I just couldn’t wait to finish school because I knew that after school like this I wasn’t going back home. I was going straight to Lagos.

“There was a time my dad came to my school. Oh God! Final year and your dad came to school. It was as if I was in secondary school and he was holding my hand like let’s go to your lecturer’s office. It was really embarrassing and those were really tough times for me.”

Adedamola Adefolahan, known professionally as Fireboy DML, is a Nigerian singer. He is signed to YBNL Nation, a record label founded by Nigerian rapper Olamide. He became well known after the release of his debut studio album Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps in 2019.
