Meet 6-Year-Old Kendall Rae Johnson, Georgia’s Youngest Certified Farmer

6 years old Kendall Rae Johnson is recognized as the youngest certified farmer in the state of Georgia.

With the guidance of her mother, Kendall has started her own farming business called aGROWKulture and has joined several farming organizations such as Georgia Grown, a division of Georgia’s Department of Agriculture, and the Georgia Farm Bureau.

With that, she officially became a farmer who is eligible to apply for land purchases, grants, and scholarships that could help her farming business grow.

"She started out in a patio garden and the patio garden grew from a little bitty something to, by the time her fourth birthday came, we had a full-fledged garden in our backyard", Kendall’s mother Ursula Johnson told Good Morning America. "And then we moved, and now she has a farm".

Kendall apparently inherited her green thumb from her great-grandmother Laura "Kate" Williams. Since then, she started to grow everything from strawberries to okra, carrots, squash, and zucchini.

Moreover, Kendall, who was discovered and supported by Georgia state Rep. Mandisha Thomas, launched a monthly gardening club and offers a subscription food box. With it, she hopes to spread awareness about gardening and farming to other families and young aspiring agriculturalists and has so far raised $85,000 for the efforts.

Now, Kendall also aims to raise $10,000 to develop her backyard garden to be able to grow more produce and reach more people in the community. She set up a GoFundMe page which has so far raised around $3,000.
