ASUU Strike: NANS Stage Peaceful Protest In National Assembly

The National Association of University Students (NAUS) staged a peaceful protest to the National Assembly over the Academic Staff of Union of Universities (ASUU) Strike.

Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi representing Niger North Senatorial district who addressed the protesters on behalf of the Senate President disclosed on the floor of the Senate today in Abuja that their grievances would be addressed while thanking them for their maturity.

The lawmaker who spoke on the point of order explained how the Senate leadership had engaged ASUU leadership which he said were almost reaching a compromise.

He told Senators that students were tired of staying at home for a long time due to the ASUU strike.

According to Senator Sabi, "The protesting students were at the National Assembly to seek lawmakers’ intervention in ASUU strike because they have been away from school for over a year now"

Reacting, Senate President Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan agreed to submit the letter to President Muhammadu Buhari.
